Description
xKELO-COTE® Scar Sheets provide a semi-occlusive layer on top of the skin, which results in increased hydration of the skin (epidermis) to help scars become flatter, smoother and reduce complaints like persistent redness, "pulling" sensations, itching, restriction of joint movement, discomfort, and cosmetic concerns. KELO-COTE® Silicone Sheets C-section provide UV protection (UPF30).
KELO-COTE® Silicone Scar Sheets are suitable for the treatment and prevention of hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from trauma / accident scars, surgical scars and burns. KELO-COTE® Silicone Scar Sheets are designed for both old and new scars. The self-adhesive, washable, and reusable sheets help with persistent functional complaints like persistent redness, “pulling” sensations, itching, restriction of joint movement, discomfort and cosmetic concerns caused by the scar. KELO-COTE® Silicone Scar Sheets can be used under clothing and in compression therapy.

How to use
Please read the enclosed leaflet carefully before use.
- For an optimum result, it is best to start using KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets immediately after wound closure (after removal of sutures and the disappearance of any scabs).
- It is recommended to gradually build up the length of application of KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets to a maximum of 23 hours a day.
- The purpose of building up gradually is to allow the skin to become accustomed to the silicone. For the best possible results, the silicone sheets should be worn for a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 23 hours a day.
- If necessary, KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets can be cut to the correct size. Ensure that the silicone sheet covers the scar. Ensure good adhesion and durability of the silicone sheet by removing any hair around the scar site.
- Thoroughly clean and dry the skin before applying the silicone sheet on and around the scar.
- Remove the protective film from the back of the silicone sheet and apply silicone sheet to the scar, if necessary, the silicone sheet can be fixed in place with an adhesive or elastic bandage.
- The skin may be treated with a hydrating cream after removing the silicone sheet.
- It takes at least 3-6 months for a scar to normalise. Use the KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets as long as the scar is raised, red or causes complaints.
- Consult a healthcare professional about the duration of therapy.

Use KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets only on healed, closed skin (after removal of sutures and the disappearance of any scabs) and never on open wounds.

Never dry the KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets in the sun or near a heat source.

Temporarily remove KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets when exercising or swimming.

Perspiration or contact with water can cause KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets to detach.

Do not use if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

Do not use if the packaging is damaged when you receive the product.
Like all medical devices there may be some side effects which are as follows:

In rare cases, the skin may have a hypersensitive reaction (skin irritation) to silicone treatment.

In such cases, stop the treatment until the skin is no longer irritated. Start the treatment again and let the skin slowly get used to the silicone sheet (applying it for an additional hour every day).

If the skin problems persist, consult a healthcare professional.

Storage

The expiry date is printed on the packaging.

Store at room temperature and not above 25ºC. Do not store in direct heat / sunlight. Do not use if packaging is broken or damaged before use.
Important info
- It is essential to clean KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets properly on a daily basis. This is necessary to ensure good adhesion.
- Remove as much dirt as possible with soap and lukewarm Water.
- Rinse the silicone sheet thoroughly under lukewarm running water. After contact with soap and water, the silicone sheet will no longer be adhesive, and it will roll up.
- Leave the silicone sheet to dry naturally on a clean, dry surface, with the sticky side facing upwards. While drying, the silicone sheet will unroll and its adhesive strength will gradually return. Use the silicone sheet only after it has completely dried.
- Trim edges of silicone sheets that are no longer adhesive, due to wear and tear.
- Each pack of KELO-COTE® Scar Sheets contains one silicone sheet. If used correctly and cared for properly (according to the instructions for use), each pack is sufficient for approximately 21 days of treatment.
- For long-term therapy several packs may therefore be necessary.
